Brighten up your winter days by attending the New Castle Historical Society’s Tin-Punch Decorating Workshop! For children (ages 6 & older) and adults.
Throughout the 1700s and 1800s, tinners, also known as tinsmiths or tinkers, used pieces of iron covered in tin to craft everyday objects such as lanterns, cupboards, footwarmers, colanders, scoops, and cooking utensils. Using hammers or mallets, they would curve and bend the tin. Today, tin-punch is often used in decorative pieces for the home.
Workshop participants will have the opportunity to make several tin-punch decorations to take home.
Registration is recommended. Please register by clicking here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/19th-century-tin-punch-workshop-registration-53593543732 or by calling the NCHS at 914-238-4666. Walk-ins are also welcome.
