Discover the Wines of Southern Italy. Explore its unique characteristics through reviews and discussions, and enjoy an exclusive wine tasting presented by Wine Connoisseur Charles Scicolone.
Wines of Southern Italy’s reputation is predominantly built on the red grapes such as Aglianico, Primitivo, Negroamaro and Nero D’Avola and the white grapes Vermentino, Falanghina and Trebbiano.
The rich volcanic soils found in Southern Italy help grow unique, character-driven grapes, such as Falanghina in Campania. The islands of Sicily and Sardinia have also contributed to Southern Italy’s success. Sicily is best known for Marsala, while Sardinia’s most popular wines are Cannonau and Vermentino.
