Westchester’s intense passion for sports and immense pride in the community has sparked Jobu Media Group, which will present the film festival, to utilize the platform to fundraise for an important cause. hat in mind, it was a natural fit to utilize the platform to fundraise for an important local cause. In Westchester County, 200,000 people are at risk of hunger or facing food insecurity, and 33 percent of those at risk are children, and 50 percent are senior citizens. The Food Bank for Westchester is the primary provider of food to soup kitchens and food pantries in the county. They partner with these outlets to get food directly to people who are hungry and serve over 300 community partners -including food pantries, soup kitchens, child and day-care centers, and shelters. Silver Screen Sports Film Festival is fundraising for the Food Bank to reach a goal of $15,000. Upon checkout online of ticket-sales there is an option to make a donation large or small, starting at $5. Raffles and other ways to donate over the course of the April 14-15 weekend extravaganza are also on the site.

For 30 years, Food Bank for Westchester has led the fight against hunger in Westchester County, serving over 300 frontline programs that provide food directly to the 200,000 county residents who are hungry or food insecure. Food Bank for Westchester supplies 95 percent of all food distributed annually across the region’s food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and daycare and residential programs - delivering over 8.4 million pounds of food and 7.5 million meals to people in 2017. Slap Shot

After show Q&A with all three Hanson Brothers

Slap Shot, starring Paul Newman, is the quintessential hockey movie. This 1977 cult classic follows the raucous escapades of the Chiefs and their trio of star players - The Hanson Brothers.  Come relive every slash, cross-check and high stick with Dave Hanson, Jeff Carlson and Steve Carlson. Immediately following the screening all three Hanson Brothers will be participating in a thirty minute Q and A session.

Caddyshack

After show Q&A with Michael O'Keefe and Cindy Morgan

Caddyshack ranks as, not only the greatest golf film of all time, but also has an unmovable spot on the Mount Rushmore of comedy.  This 1980 classic, starring Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield and Ted Knight, portrays all the high jinks that go along with country club life.  It is really the story of star caddy Danny Noonan played by Michael O’Keefe and his misadventures navigating through a summer with that star-studded cast. Joining Danny is Lacey Underall played by Cindy Morgan who shares in all the fun over this two hour laugh-fest.

Rocky

After show Q&A with Burt Young

Rocky stands as the most celebrated sports movie of all time.  This 1976 powerhouse was written and directed by Sylvester Stallone.  This film epitomizes the American Dream and truly transcends boxing.  Rocky remains one of the most inspirational characters, franchises and tales in the history of film.  The film also includes standout performances from Burgess Meredith, Carl Weathers, Talia Shire and, of course, “Uncle Paulie” Burt Young.

Rudy

After show Q&A with Rudy Ruettiger

Rudy, Rudy! If Rocky is the most celebrated sports movie ever then Rudy stands neck in neck with it on the inspirational charts. This 1993 film has impacted millions including so many athletes who use Rudy's underdog tale to lean on when they are ready to give up.  It took Rudy Ruettiger 27 years to play 27 seconds for Notre Dame.  He was small, not very athletic and had countless other obstacles in his way.  Despite these challenges Rudy persevered to achieve his goal.  Don't miss this chance to catch Rudy at this 25th Anniversary celebration with the real Rudy Ruettiger in attendance.

Major League

After show Q&A with Corbin Bernsen

Major League is arguably the greatest baseball film of the last forty years. This 1989 classic boasts a superstar cast including Corbin Bernsen, Wesley Snipes, Charlie Sheen and Tom Berenger.  This film tells the fictional story of an improbable run by the Cleveland Indians.  This hilarious tale touches upon many of baseball's institutions and superstitions along this roller coaster ride of a season.  So many quotes and characters from the film have since become synonymous with baseball such as "just a bit outside", "Jobu", Willie Mays Hayes and Rick Vaughn.  Major League has truly engrained itself in the day to day vernacular of the sport. Joining us for this special screening is Roger Dorn himself Corbin Bernsen.
