Purchase Opera will perform a trio of one-act operas featuring beloved arias such as “O mio babbino caro” and “Senza mamma.”
Performances of Purchase Opera: Trilogy will be held in the Recital Hall of The Performing Arts Center (735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, NY) on Thursday, March 21 at 7 pm; Friday, March 22 at 7 pm; Saturday, March 23 at 7 pm; and Sunday, March 24 at 1 pm.
This season marks the 20th anniversary of the Purchase Opera Company under the direction of Jacque Trussel. The Conservatory of Music will mark the occasion by presenting the first two operas presented by the Purchase Opera in 1999, Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi. The evening will also include Confession, which serves as a prequel to Suor Angelica. Confession, by Raphaël Lucas, with a libretto by Jacque Trussel and Margaret Vignola, was developed at Purchase College and serves as a dramatic counterpart to the other two operas.
The performances feature the Purchase Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Music Director Hugh Murphy. The production is produced in collaboration with the Theatre Design/Technology program in the Conservatory of Theatre Arts.
General admission tickets are $20. Discounts are available for students and seniors. To order tickets, please visit www.artscenter.org or call 914.251.6200.
The Purchase Opera company features students of the Conservatory of Music’s Voice and Opera Studies Area—a highly selective program that has won 14 top awards for its professional-level productions from the National Opera Association and the American Prize. Confession won the National Opera Association Prize for the Best Contemporary Opera 2010-2012.
“We are thrilled to give our students the opportunity to perform a range of dramatic and comedic works, while at the same time providing the community with an approachable, world-class opera experience in a local venue,” Jacque Trussel said.
This production is made possible with support from The Emily Grant Opera Performance and Production Fund, The L. Werlinich Opera Production Endowment, the Friends of Music, and the Friends of Opera.
