The Jacob Burns Film Center presents Out of the Clear Blue Sky, a film by Danielle Gardner, which looks behind the scenes at the world of financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald, which lost 658 of its 960 employees in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and its controversial CEO Howard Lutnick, infamous for his ruthless business practices. Shortly after the attacks, Lutnick’s emotional interviews portrayed a heartbroken man, but within a week, to allegedly save the company, he’d stopped the paychecks to his missing employees, and was skewered in the press as a result. Includes a Q&A with Gardner.
