In 1925 a group of professional women artists started the New York Society of Women Artists. This was not a ladies club, but modernists exhibiting their work, winning Guggenheim grants and having their work reviewed in major publications. Paving the way for women in arts, the organization continued to attract dynamic professionals. As a celebration of Women's History Month the current membership of painters and sculptors will explore the theme of the heart and its many associations through a variety of media.
