Experiencing light and color with a sensitive palette is the core of artist, Roger Milinowski’s landscapes. “Along the East Coast,” an exhibition of his oil paintings, will open at Les Beaux Arts Gallery on Sunday, October 20 and run through November 27, 2013.
Milinowski’s paintings are serene and speak to the heart; the quaint settings of America’s East Coast and rural country farms are the perfect subjects for his artistic style. He travels around painting en plein air and gathering field studies that are used as reference material for many of his compositions. He offers a bucolic vision of the East Coast’s idyllic scenery where a certain 'bonheur de vivre' envelops the viewer.
Milinowski received a comprehensive education in the visual arts and industrial design. His career included working with prestigious design firms as an illustrator and art director. He was inspired by yearly trips to the coast of Maine, which eventually led to him becoming a permanent resident. His studio/gallery now boasts a view of one of the prettiest harbors in Maine.
About his art, Milinowski explains "Although I create paintings under many circumstances, I am most excited about painting en plein air. There’s an immediacy about painting directly from nature, capturing a moment in time that I find very stimulating. When I paint, I love to drop below the clutter of today's busy images and bring out the suggestion of a quieter, more nostalgic time."
Milinowski has received numerous awards and exhibited in galleries and art shows throughout the East Coast. His paintings are in private collections in the United States, Israel, Canada, Australia and England.
