The Fall/Holiday Open Meeting of the N.Y. Unit of Herb Society of America takes place in the John Jay Homestead Ballroom. The speaker, Marjorie Shaffer, will discuss her new book, “Cinnamon: A Bittersweet History”. She is also the author of “Pepper: A History of the World’s Most Influential Spice”, and recently traveled throughout Southeast Asia researching her book on cinnamon. She will bring cinnamon samples from Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and other areas of the world. Check-in is at 6:30 p.m., the lecture at 7 p.m. Register early; seating is limited. Tickets are $20 per person. Herb Society gardening and holiday items will also be available for sale. Desserts and hot cider will be served.
