Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center- Talking About Race in the Classroom: A Training for Educators Committed to Racial Justice

 In partnership with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and Manhattanville College, the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center presents Talking About Race in the Classroom: A Training for Educators Committed to Racial Justice on December 3 from 4 pm to 8 pm. 

 The program is presented by Border Crossers, who mission is to train and empower educators to dismantle patterns of racism and injustice in our schools and communities.

 Opening remarks will be by Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr., Westchester County District Attorney and Susan Brownbill-Vega, Assistant District Attorney, Director of Community Affairs, Bias Crimes Unit Chief.

 Through this training, educators strengthen their analysis of how racism manifests in schools and classrooms, enhance their understanding of how racism affects children, practice utilizing tools to address race and racism with students and gain strategies to support a school-wide culture of respect, equity, and inclusivity. 

 4 CTLE hours are available.  This workshop is appropriate for students who are studying to become teachers as well as those who are current teachers.

 A lights supper will be served.

 There is no charge.

 This workshop will be held at Manhattanville College, West Room, Reid Castle, 2900 Purchase Street, Purchase, NY  10577.
