School Arts Education Program Announces Docent Training

The Rye Arts Center will be offering Famous Artists Docent training Thursday, March 27th and Friday, March 28th from 10:00am-12:00pm in the Performing Arts Room of The Rye Arts Center.  Parents interested in bringing the Famous Artist Program to their local elementary school are encouraged to contact The Rye Arts Center or https://racfamousartists.wordpress.com to register their school to participate in this very popular arts education program.

This year’s Famous Artist is the utterly unique Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1526-1593) who was a court painter to the Habsburg Emperors. Arcimboldo is best known for his portraits composed entirely of fruits, vegetables, sea creatures, weapons and other physical material. His paintings embodied the mystical world of Rudolf II’s Prague and its fascination with magic, alchemy, and astrology.

“Famous Artists is a fabulous program for planting the seeds of cultural and visual literacy in children that blossom into a life-time engagement with the arts.” -Jeff Taylor, Docent Trainer, Assistant Professor of Arts Management, SUNY Purchase.
