Description

Salsa Scene at Empire City Casino's Entertainment Lounge in March   Salsa is on the scene at Empire City Casino (Yonkers, NY) in March when a trio of Latin-flair performances take center stage at the casino’s Entertainment Lounge in the Gotham Palace. A total of five performances are scheduled.    Swing Sabroso will bring its distinctive Salsa style to the Entertainment Lounge on three consecutive Tuesdays – March 13, 20 and 27. Each night, the group will be joined by a special guest. Since its inception in 2000, Swing Sabroso has generated a growing number of loyal fans throughout the tristate area and abroad. The group’s individual members each have a distinct and unique style, and have performed and recorded with some of the most recognizable names in Latin Music before joining together to form Swing Sabroso.   Brooklyn’s Los Hacheros have top billing on Sunday, March 18, and are the modern-day torchbearers of the Golden Age of Latin music. They recorded their sophomore album Bambulaye live to vintage analog tape, giving the music a raw, but warm and open sound similar to the Latin legends that have inspired them. Their debut album Pilonwas a well-received introduction to the band with its new generation Salsa, resulting in critical praise from tastemakers including Wax Poetics, Vibe Magazine, and The Washington City Paper, amongst others.   On Sunday, March 25Boricua Legends Orchestra performs to share its brilliant Salsa sounds. The group provides a wide range of music from yesterday and today. The musicians are as follows – on Trombone: Hommy Ramos, Saxophone: Al Acosta, Trumpet: Hector “Tito” Rodriguez, Piano: Gilberto Colon Jr. “Pulpo”, Bass: Ruben Rodriguez, Congas: Nelson Bello, Timbales: Eddie Rivera, Singer: Jorge Maldonado, Singer: Luis Soto. The leader and founder of the group is Pedro “Pocholo” Segundo.   Admission to all shows is free, and seating is on a first come-first serve basis.   Empire City Casino, Manhattan’s closest casino, is just a short drive from the George Washington Bridge and is easily accessible via Metro North, Bus, Shuttle Bus and more, including line runs from Harlem and Inwood in the Bronx (exact point-to-point directions provided here).  ###   About Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway: Empire City Casino is one of the largest entertainment and gaming destinations in the northeast.
