Wednesday, March 20. The Bedford Chamber Concert Series continues into its spring season, with concerts on March 20, April 10, and May 15. The March 20th concert features renowned Russian-American pianist Vladimir Feltsman, who is appearing this season since his concert last March was cancelled due to inclement weather. His pieces will include Bach’s Partita No. 1, and Chopin’s Three Nocturnes op.9, Nocturne op.48 #2, and Ballade No. 3.
Future spring concerts include a variety of pieces on April 10, including Mozart’s Symphony #38, often called “The Prague Symphony” since it premiered in Prague in 1787; Boccherini’s “Fandango” Quintet for guitar and strings, with Yale guitar professor Benjamin Verdery as featured soloist; and a premiere performance of the last movement of Mr. Newman’s “Easter Quintet”. The final concert on May 15 will feature Pachelbel’s Canon; Saint-Saens’ trumpet septet; Mr. Newman’s premiere of Overture in E; and Bach’s version of the biblical canticle “Magnificat”, with a flute solo by Emi Ferguson who has performed for four U.S. Presidents.
Tickets are $40 per person for the first two concerts, and $45 for the final one on May 15th. All concerts are held at St. Matthew’s Church Fellowship Hall, starting at 8 p.m.; refreshments are served during intermission. St Matthew’s is located at 382 Cantitoe Street (Route 22) in Bedford.
