Join the Friends for an afternoon of jazz featuring saxophonist and composer Alex LoRe, and bassist, Martin Nevin. Alex LoRe frequently performs at some of New York’s most revered jazz venues, including Smalls Jazz Club, Dizzy's Club at Lincoln Center, and the Iridium Jazz Club. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston’s New England Conservatory and a master’s degree from New York’s Manhattan School of Music. Martin Nevin has been recognized by the Downbeat Student Music Awards, Stanford Jazz Workshop, and Disney Spotlight Awards. He frequently performs in New York City at the Jazz Gallery and 55 Bar, among others. He received his BA in jazz performance on full scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music. Both musicians teach in the New York City area, including at the Larchmont Music Academy. The program will feature selections from such notable musical icons as Thelonious Monk, Hoagy Carmichael, Bud Powell, Billy Strayhorn, and George Shearing.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library.
