Film: Prince Among Slaves and exhibition: Forgotten Roots: African American Muslims in Early America. Presented by the American Muslim Women's Association. Prince Among Slaves the amazing true story of Abdul Rahman Ibrahma Sori, an African prince enslaved in the Americas.
Forgotten Roots: African American Muslims in Early America
Through a range of artifacts, diaries, documents and photographs this exhibition show how newly transported African Muslims played significant roles as explorers, entrepreneurs, educators and patriotic servicemen in America during the 18th & 19th centuries. It presents vignettes of figures, enslaved and free, known for their passion for freedom, pioneering spirit, and steadfast faith.
