Learn all about the miraculous yearly journey of the monarchs to Mexico, the many environmental threats to these butterflies and what we can do to help. The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Healthy Yard Project presents a talk by Sandy Morrissey on how to raise monarch butterflies, and how the increased use of pesticides has decreased their numbers. Join us for this informative program for all ages and learn how monarch butterflies born at the end of summer fly almost 3,000 miles to spend the winter in a place they have never seen before!
President of Bronx River-Sound Shore Audubon, Sandy Morrissey is interested in the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Healthy Yard Project as a way to help our Sound Shore area and the broader community to increase the populations of pollinators--butterflies and birds--necessary for the reproduction and survival of many of our flowers, trees and vegetables. Sandy is an expert birder and gardener eager to share her extensive expertise, as well as a great storyteller. Co-sponsored with The Larchmont Mamaroneck Healthy Yards Project.
