Two luminaries will be honored at ANDRUS’s Light Up the Night benefit on Friday, October 24th at the Westchester Country Club in Rye. Both honorees have greatly impacted the lives of children.
At 85, honoree Andrew Malcolm a 1948 graduate of ANDRUS, annually makes a six-hour Santa Claus-inspired pilgrimage from Rochester, NY to Yonkers to distribute presents to ANDRUS children and give back to the organization that he credits with transforming his life. While Andy enhances children’s lives on a local scale, honoree Dan Bena has spent decades advocating for children on the global stage through his sustainable development and operations outreach work for PepsiCo Global Operations. Both honorees are eager to support ANDRUS and its mission to nurture the lives of children and create bright futures for them and their families
A Special Appeal will be held at the event to help fund ANDRUS’s Sensory/Body Regulation Program, which fosters the mind/body connection to help children cope with stress and trauma. Integrated into all other therapeutic programs at agency, this effort is a fundamental component of helping the children at ANDRUS who suffer emotional and behavioral difficulties that make their daily life a challenge. Identifying effective means to manage stress can be transformative for children and provide valuable skills that will serve them well, far beyond their ANDRUS experience.
ANDRUS nurtures social and emotional well-being in children and their families by delivering a broad range of vital services and by providing research, training and innovative program models
that promotes standards of excellence for professional performance in and beyond its service community.
