Working together for stronger, healthier babies
Founded in 1938 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to combat polio, the March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
The work of the March of Dimes is made possible by millions of people and thousands of companies. Volunteers serve on boards and committees, lead fundraising events, write letters to Congress and spread the word online. Companies large and small participate in our events or provide sponsorship. To everyone who shares our vision of healthier babies, we are deeply grateful.
The March of Dimes also reaches out to moms-to-be with local programs, such as pre-conception/inter-conception care, enhanced prenatal care programs, programs to help women quit smoking or using drugs, pre-term labor prevention, and folic acid education.
The March of Dimes is always there to help when something goes wrong. Our community website, shareyourstory.org, offers a place where families can find information and connect with others who understand the NICU experience.
