Swarovski crystals on the sole of a shoe? Walking surfaces never had it so good.

Lori Silverman’s story is the kind you tell your friends who dream of doing something great. The Westchester single mother of three was working at a law firm but dreamed of running her own company and producing a line of shoes with dazzling soles. “I would see editors, models, and actresses sitting cross-legged at fashion shows, with their scuffed-up soles, totally ruining their otherwise-perfect look,” recalls Silverman, who viewed shoe soles as a blank canvas waiting to be painted. “I knew this was an opportunity to create something completely ignored in the shoe industry.” With no formal background in design, she got to work searching for a shoe engineer to see if it was possible to embellish the soles with Swarovski crystals, pearls, and patterned designs.

Lori Silverman shoes was born in January 2012, and Silverman resigned from the law firm in 2015 to run the company full-time. Her business has been a co-branding partner of Swarovski since October 2013 and is a featured designer on their global website. The designs, which are patented in approximately 30 countries and range from $1,100-$3,000 per pair, have been spotted on many famous feet, including those of Carrie Underwood, Debra Messing, Pamela Anderson, and Lily Aldridge.
