Ice packs and heat packs have been used to reduce pain and inflammation for years. Now, these therapies have been revolutionized by modern technology and science — and are available in Westchester at Nordic Edge, a wellness center that employs cutting-edge health treatments as alternative methods of pain management and overall wellness. The newest location opened recently in Scarsdale (there are locations in Eastchester and New Canaan). Dr. Marie O’Connor, DNP, RN, president of Nordic Edge, wrote her dissertation on cryotherapy and says that she saw a need for the treatment in Westchester. O’Connor says, “Nordic is bringing a new aspect to health and wellness into the lives of Westchester residents through all-natural treatments.” Offerings at Nordic Edge include whole-body or localized cryotherapy, which is said to reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation in as few as three to seven minutes (at -250°F); infrared heat therapy; compression therapy; salt therapy; vibroacoustic therapy; and the Nordic Facial, which aims to stimulate collagen production and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. In addition to its three stores, Nordic Edge has a partnership with XpresSpa Group Inc., which provides some of its wellness services at airports, including New York’s JFK.
