A Westchester foodie's guide to good eats in August.

Dry-aged Pat LaFrieda burgers, plated entrées such as Atlantic salmon and buttermilk fried chicken, and a host of sandwiches like this Thanksgiving turkey option with gravy and cranberry chutney, are on the menu at the new Harrison Tavern

In the space that formerly housed Trinity Restaurant and Halstead’s Bar and Grill is Harrison Tavern, a comfort-fare eatery. Executive Chef Rudy Nissley has created a menu with selections such as dry-aged Pat LaFrieda custom-blended burgers, French-bread pizzas, a Balboa with house-made roast beef, and salads with homemade dressings. There are approximately 15 craft beers on tap, plus imaginative cocktails like the Spicy Paloma (Especial Silver tequila, grapefruit juice, jalapeno simple syrup, soda water). The restaurant has a 120-seat dining room, a 150-seat banquet room, and is run by the owners of Larchmont Tavern. 

The Manhattan-based Dig Inn Seasonal Market is opening its first suburban location, 12th overall, at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center in Rye Brook this fall. The restaurant chainlet uses antibiotic-free meats, milk from grass-fed cows, and wild-caught salmon, while partnering with local (300-mile radius) farms. 

LITTLE big BITES Burger Bistro was scheduled to have opened by press time. Among the patty offerings are an osso buco burger, deep-fried burger, and a pretzel burger, plus six types of poutine. 

Personal Chef Laurie Gershgorn is planning to open Good Choice Kitchen sometime this month. The eatery is focused on organic ingredients and locally sourced foods; offerings include eat-in prepared dishes, daily takeout items, customized organic meal plans, and group cooking classes. 

The two-day Putnam County Wine & Food Fest showcases some of New York State's finest spirit and wine producers

The 6th Annual Putnam County Wine & Food Fest takes place Aug 6 and 7, showcasing top wine producers, breweries, distilleries, food purveyors, and more.  Adirondack Winery, Awestruck Hard Ciders, and Sherri’s Crab Cakes are among the participating vendors. Live bands, including pop, country, R&B, and reggae, will perform.
