Why White Plains Is the Headquarters for Many Food and Beverage Companies

Q: Why are so many food and beverage companies headquartered in White Plains?

A: According to Westchester County’s Director of Economic Development Laurence Gottlieb, the answer is: location, location, location. “White Plains stands at the crossroads of a consumers’ paradise for food and beverage firms: You can reach nearly sixty-eight million US and Canadian customers within approximately a six-hour drive.” Plus, he says, “food and beverage companies want to cluster together because that collective talent pool allows them to—excuse the pun—feed off each other. When you put smart people near each other, new ideas take shape and new companies form. For example, Heineken helps draw Sabra to the area, then Sabra helps attract Mionetto—creating a magnetic field that pulls other companies to White Plains.”
