We are of the firm belief that one can never have enough shoes, handbags, or sunglasses—or stores that sell them. So, even though we can’t expense the strappy Ferragamos we eyed there, we’re still stoked to welcome a new boutique specializing in high-end accessories that recently opened a walk away from our offices in Rye. Launched by fashion insiders Christina Johnson-Wolff, a former chief executive officer of Saks Fifth Avenue and past Rye resident, and Kim Walin, a former Wall Street equity analyst in the retail sector, the shop, says Walin, “features the latest styles and sophisticated brands for everyday, work, and special occasions.” The pair—who opened their first shop in New Canaan, Connecticut, earlier this spring—targets the high-end customer with everything from de rigueur ballet flats from DVF ($198) to stylish Tory Burch sunglasses ($145 to $165) and ultra-glam evening sandals ($365) by Stuart Weitzman.

“We have a soft spot for natural materials, and clean, modern lines—and we think great design should be affordable.” Amen to that. And while the “we” here is actually, West Elm, a specialty retailer (a chain) of home stores owned by cookware giant Williams-Sonoma, we appreciate its philosophy as much as its modern, sleek, and stylish designs. In this, its first location in the county, you’ll find everything from small vases from dbO Home in which actual leaves, wildflowers, and honeycomb have been pressed into the clay ($14-plus) to $2,000 Italian leather sofas. Bath, bedding, lighting, window treatments, and the like round out the very appealing mix.
