Each of these 20 communities has more than a few things that make them special.
Real estate may be a numbers game, but finding a home is a human endeavor. When push comes to shove (or final offer), we opt to live in places that move us. Whether that place is a boat-centric ’burb or an artsy River Town, a city skyscraper or a horsey retreat, depends on many factors. There’s your personality, your pocketbook, your passions, your domestic/parental status, and your line of work to consider—and not necessarily in that order.
With this heart-first approach in mind, we went in search of great places to live from all corners of Westchester County: City and Country, River and Sound. Then we asked the residents and Realtors to make their cases for the places they love. Who knows? They might convince you to move there, too.

Dana White’s special place in Westchester is the village of Ossining, where she has lived for more than 20 years, raising two sons with her husband. Her house, which dates to the 1850s, backs up to Ossining’s award-winning high school.
