Westchester Real Estate 2012: Shore Acres, Mamaroneck Best Place for Water Views East

You don’t have to be a boater to live in Shore Acres, but you’ll feel right at home if you are. The Rye Neck community, part of the Village of Mamaroneck, is tucked between Guion and Otter Creeks, 53 acres of protected saltwater wetlands teeming with waterfowl, fish, and other wildlife just a few steps away from Boston Post Road. The residential neighborhood between the two creeks juts into Long Island Sound not far from the entrance to Mamaroneck Harbor.

Second-generation Mamaroneck realtor Kathleen Spadaro says she has many fond memories of taking her son to fish off the bridge over Guion Creek as he was growing up. Today, she says, “It’s a lovely area with limited traffic because you can’t drive through from Boston Post Road to Barry Avenue. Homes start as low as seven hundred thousand dollars and go up to well over two million.”

Even many homes in Shore Acres a little farther from the Sound have water views. Some of the best are of Magid Pond, a freshwater pool teeming with birds and home to a million (more or less) bullfrogs.
