Lincolndale is a just-wide-enough place in the road to have a few hundred homes with lots and lots of outdoor amenities nearby. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Somers, the hamlet is dotted with ponds and lakes, carpeted with trees, and served by a few little neighborhood businesses. Best of all, it’s quiet. Really, really quiet. Which makes it ideal for sportsmen and nature-lovers.
Nearby is Angle Fly Preserve, named after the county’s last natural brook-trout-spawning stream. Its 650 acres were set aside in 2006 as a sanctuary for area wildlife. It’s not only great for hiking, fly-fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, bird-watching, and nature study, but for in-season deer and turkey bow-hunting.
You’re also next door to Amawalk Reservoir, home of fine, largemouth and smallmouth bass. If you’d rather shoot par than a turkey, join Anglebrook Golf Club, one of the county’s finest. It’s private but open to new members.
