Westchester County Is Home to More Democrats than Republicans

Westchester’s not quite as liberal as they say—but it’s pretty darned progressive.

Maybe Westchester’s new official animal should be the donkey. According to the County Board of Elections’ active enrollment numbers, there are 253,596 registered Democrats and 134,385 Republicans in the county. Yonkers, the city with the most registered voters, has twice as many Dems (more than 48,000) as Repubs (more than 21,000). Next in line: Mount Vernon has more than eight times as many Dems (25,604) as Repubs (3,028). Of the 25 towns and cities listed by the Board, only the following municipalities had majorities from the Grand Old Party: Rye City, Eastchester, Somers, Harrison, and North Salem.
