Suburban Murderer
The main reason Amy Friedlander and her children were murdered (“Suburban Murder,” March) is because the State of New York left them as sitting ducks by not ordering Sam Friedlander to move out when the divorce was filed. By not making one spouse move out when divorce is filed, tensions escalate. Husbands are able to intimidate wives by staying in their homes and overhearing phone conversations; listening to discussions in their home; accessing e-mails and Internet files through “back-up” systems, Wi-Fi, and iPads, which are difficult to secure. They can see where every penny goes. They can intimidate their wives by saying, “You’ll get nothing if you leave me,” etc.
In these hard times, wives are not filing for divorce for frivolous reasons. Substance abuse and mental health issues abound. Most women stick it out longer than they should, trying to keep family units together for the children’s sake.
New York needs to order one of the two spouses to leave the family home within 30 days of the divorce being filed. This is the only way to prevent more of these ghastly murders.

Honor Roll
It was so nice to see our fellow student and good friend Jacob Seidman featured in the “20 Teens to Watch” article in your March issue. After watching him accomplish so many wonderful things, we thought the recognition was greatly deserved. Jacob is a valuable member of our school and community, and we are honored to have had him featured in the magazine.

Thanks for Everything
I have just finished reading my latest issue of your fine magazine and I wanted to tell you what a great job I think you and your writers do on a month-to-month basis in presenting so much useful and insightful information. We always find several items in an issue that spur some discussion and activity. Keep up the good work.

Precious Pets
Congrats on your recent pet contest feature. As a resident who is involved in pet rescue for the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter and Pet Rescue of Larchmont, it was particularly heartwarming to see that so many of the winners were rescue pets. As I’ve found from my own personal experience, when you save an animal, it often ends up saving you.

As a passionate dog lover and longtime Westchester resident, I very much enjoyed the recent issue about our county’s adorable pets. You chose wonderfully photogenic animals, and it was really entertaining to read about their funny quirks and habits. I will be sure to enter my labradoodle puppy next year—if I can get him to sit still!

Loved the “Westchester’s Next Top (Animal) Models” article in your March issue. Not only were all the pets shown adorable, their names were so refreshingly different and clever. It was nice to see that there wasn’t a Max or Casey in the bunch. Thanks for a fun piece for all of us animal lovers!
Ilene Rubin, Purchase

As a major animal lover, I really enjoyed the article featuring the winners of your pet contest in your March issue. The cross-section from small to big animals was really interesting, and the poses were so cute, I just melted. I’m entering my own adorable poodle next year!
