Wearable Art Works

Yvette Jones, an artist and educator, had “played around with beads” for years. But it was a gift of some crystals that really got her hooked on designing jewelry.

Drawing on her background in the visual arts, the Elmsford resident launched Chic Designs by Yvette in 2003 and today offers a fresh collection of handcrafted sterling-silver and gold-filled jewelry. Featured are semi-precious or colored gemstones like rose quartz, hematite, agate, Swarovski and other designer crystals, rhinestones, and fresh-water and cultured pearls.

Jones’s line (“a variety of looks, from lacy and filigreed to more modern and sculptural”) includes link-style and chunky beaded bracelets; bib, choker, and lariat necklaces; and chandelier, dangling, and stud earrings. Dazzling as these pieces are, they come with refreshingly down-to-earth price tags. Bracelets and earrings range from $38 to $65 and necklaces from $55 to $350, and can be found at Bertha’s Boutique in Scarsdale, Fiamor in Dobbs Ferry, and Groovy on Grand in Croton-on-Hudson or online at yvette-jones.com. Custom designs are welcome.
