The grandsons of Lena Bryant, the founder of the century-old, plus-size Lane Bryant chain, have launched this store offering trendy fashions for—surprise—women sizes 12 to 26. Recently named “best plus-sized chain” by Time Out New York, this fashion retailer is described by co-owner Michael Kaplan as “a Forever 21 or H&M for plus sizes.” The mix includes denim by Fragile, Fashion Exit, and C’est Toi, plus tops, bottoms, day and evening dresses, and accessories from the store’s own Figure label. Average prices are nice and affordable—about $38 for jeans, $28 for tops, and $40 for dresses.

Lv2BFit (“love to be fit”) is a small fashion boutique with a special emphasis on fitness wear launched by Patty Palmieri, who teaches exercise classes at a nearby gym. “So many people always asked me where I got my clothes that I decided to start selling them,” she says. Rounding out the merchandise mix is another of Palmieri’s passions—accessories. Expect everything from warm-ups from Twisted Hearts and Blue Fish exercise apparel to scarves by Sabina Les Scarves, handbags by Lena Erziak, and bags and clutches from Romy Gold. Prices range from $30 for a makeup case and $80 for a pair of exercise pants to $1400 for an ostrich handbag.

Susan Blake Jewelry features the work of the shop’s owner, Susan Blake, a third-generation jeweler—her family has been involved in the design and manufacturer of jewelry for such shops as Tiffany’s for the past 35 years—in addition to other select designers. While this is Blake’s first retail venture, her designs, featuring yellow gold or hand-crafted sterling silver, with black, rough-cut, and other diamonds and such semi-precious gems as labrodorite, are sold in 40 other jewelry stores throughout the country. Blake’s collection runs from $95 to $550 in sterling silver and $500 to $5,500 in gold; custom designs are available. Other designers showcased include KC Designs and Meira, both of whose designs feature gold and diamonds.
