Student Chefs

Saunders High students dish it up with a culinary flair.

One of the hottest dinner reservations in the county is at the Yonkers Education and Cultural Arts Center on North Broadway. That’s where students in the Culinary Arts Program at Saunders Trades & Technical High prepare and serve a prix-fixe gourmet dinner. Guests enjoy a three-course meal plus a selection of homemade breads, beverage, and coffee for $30. Dessert is à la carte.

It’s all prepared by about 30 students in the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management program. The program, which has 100 students, focuses on food preparation, presentation, baking techniques, safety, sanitation, nutrition, and dining-room service, getting students ready to enter the work force upon graduation or to continue with post-secondary education.
