Madame Churchill

Last September, the boutique Churchills of Mount Kisco opened, launched by stylish duo Daniele Churchill of Bedford and Lori Land of White Plains. Here, we chat with the shop’s namesake.

How is Churchills unique? We have the Westchester exclusive for The Row and Vivienne Westwood and we also offer other labels usually found on Madison Avenue and at Barney’s.

Who is your fashion icon? My mom, a former Parisian model. I never saw her in a pair of jeans.

Who are your favorite fashion designers? For women, The Row by the Olsen twins; these young girls are very talented. For men, I like Luciano Barbera’s quality and designs.

What colors are trending up this season? We’re seeing lots of shades of blue—turquoise, ice blue, etc. For men, we’re seeing pale grays and khakis with yellows, blues, and lots of green.

Tell us what you are wearing now. I’m wearing a taupe-y colored leather jacket that sells for nineteen-hundred dollars over a cream-colored chiffon blouse for five-hundred ninety-five, both by Susan Strasser, with black cotton leggings for three-hundred ninety-five dollars from The Row and a pair of black leather ballet flats by Christian Louboutin that sell for around nine-hundred dollars.

Besides your own store, where do you shop? I like the boutiques in Manhattan’s meat market district, like Stella McCartney and Jeffrey’s.

So, are you related to the Churchill? Very distantly. Winston Churchill and I share a common ancestor from way back on my father’s side. But no one in my family knew him.
