Whet your appetite with the “mozzarella fresca,” light and flavorful fresh mozzarella topped with garden-fresh, sliced tomatoes, basil and oregano. Or, sample the “filetto di manzo pezzi”—tender slices of filet mignon sautéed in a cognac demi glaze.
For seafood lovers, there’s the steamed mussels in a white wine sauce with plum tomatoes or the fresh
Pasta lovers won’t be disappointed. The “tortellini alla grace” is a heaping must-have serving of delicious cheese tortellini, prosciutto and sweet peas bathed in a creamy pink sauce. Those looking for a more traditional dish may opt for the “spaghetti siciliano,” a savory combination of garlic, capers, black olives and oregano in a light plum tomato sauce.
Meat eaters do well at Cafe on the Green, too. Among the many choices is the simple yet delectable filet mignon topped with a light Gorgonzola brandy sauce and a magnificent “scaloppine di vitello paradiso,” veal sautéed with lobster meat and melted mozzarella in a light champagne sauce. Or if you’re in the mood for chicken, the “pollo alla campagnola” is a wonderful mixture of chunks of chicken, sausage and potatoes in a zesty garlic lemon sauce.
Choosing a sweet to top off your meal may prove a challenge—there are so many. The chocolate mousse cake is absolutely divine, as is the rich and smooth cheesecake. Other selections include tiramisu and bananas Foster flambé, served table-side. No matter what, you’ll leave Cafe on the Green satisfied.
