Healthy Heart Fridays: The Bar Method

Things to do to recognize American Heart Month.

As you probably know already, February is American Heart Month. Every Friday in February, we’re going to spotlight information about heart health, things you can do locally to keep that heart pumping, or ways to support the American Heart Association. (Remember, you can always donate to the American Heart Association online.)

This month, The Bar Method in Rye Brook has ways to keep your heart healthy both physically and metaphysically. On Valentine’s Day, if your heart isn’t already racing because of a special someone, you can make it race in the studio (which could help you feel a little less guilty if you dive into a heart-shaped box of chocolates later). The February 14 “Babe Method” class offers “free beer and bar for all babes” starting at 12:15 pm. They suggest coming in to “sweat with your sweety”—which is one way to get that rush of blood going on V-Day.

Then, on February 21, The Bar Method will be hosting a “Change of Heart” event. If you workout that day, a suggested donation of $20 will benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. The donation also comes with a free subscription to Self or Glamour. Consider it a two-for-one: Not only do you help your own heart by working out, you help out someone else’s, too, by supporting the AHA.
