Rye’s popular baby and child boutique Sammy + Nat has opened a seasonal pop-up shop at The Westchester following the successful launch of the brick and mortar shop in March of this past year. The pop-up is situated near Santa’s Village at The Westchester and will remain open until January 1.
In addition to offering Sammy + Nat’s signature 100 percent Pima cotton collection, the pop-up shop sells all the same brands the brick and mortar store carries, including Egg by Susan Lazar, Toobydoo and Little Kims.
North Salem native Samantha Benson created Sammy + Nat, the brand’s name being an ode to the nicknames given to Benson and her sister by their late mother, who was a midwife. As kids, Benson and her sister, Natalie, were inseparable. There was never one without the other — it was always Sammy and Nat together. For Benson, it only seemed natural to develop a children’s clothing brand that encapsulated her childhood.
When Samantha set out to open her first store and found the perfect location, she hired Darcy Callahan of Wesport’s Pink Lemon Blue Lime. With Callahan’s retail experience and Samantha’s signature collection, she helped Samantha create a store for all ages, bringing complementary brands on board to offer a true boutique experience. With Callahan’s retail experience and Benson’s marketing experience — she previously worked for Michael Kors — the duo were able to build a brand focused on quality and simplicity. The children of celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian, Alec Baldwin, Ashton Kutcher have been spotted sporting the local brand.
The Sammy + Nat signature collection is ethically sourced from a cotton manufacturer in Peru specializing in children’s wear whom Benson has been working with since the start. All Sammy + Nat clothing is hypoallergenic and chemical free adding to the uniqueness of clean cut patterns and designs. “The streamlined aesthetic appeals to both kids and their parents,” mentions Benson, adding that new prints are on the way. The modern look shies away from the typical cutesy look of toddlers’ clothing providing a look inspired by Benson’s mother’s classic style.
Recently Sammy + Nat has teamed up with Monogram Mary, a Greenwich-based company, which deems monograming as a way to put a unique stamp on everything in life. “It’s given our customers the opportunity to enjoy a specialty service,” says Benson.
Along with the pop up shop, the Sammy + Nat team has partnered with Adrienne Harper, founder of Bundles of Joy to spread holiday cheer outside of their pop up shop. Bundles of Joy gives back to families with children in critical need of clothing, diapers, and other necessities.
Sammy + Nat is also sold in several shops across the country and Westchester including at And JAMES of Katonah and SilverSpoon of Bronxville.
