6 Clutch, Easy, Quick Stops to Shop in Westchester

Looking for a unique fashion boutique? There’s sure to be one right down the street.

Retail therapy never goes out of style. If I’m in need of an outfit for Friday night, a unique gift to give a special friend, or just stress relief after a long workday, I always feel better knowing that interesting shopping opportunities are more than likely just around the corner.

Check out these hotspots for a quick shopping fix that is always in fashion:

Havana Jeans is one among many designer boutiques bunched along Purchase Street in Rye. Havana sells trendy denim in various cuts and washes from the likes of AG Adriano Goldschmied, J Brand, and Joe’s (to name a few of my favorites). Although the store, which arrived in Rye six years ago after first opening in Scarsdale and then expanding into Stamford, Conn., is known for jeans, it also carries plenty of additional casual wear for a well-rounded shopping experience. Open until 6 pm on weekdays.

Channeling the likes of Barney’s and Bergdorf’s, Churchills of Mount Kisco has presented a chic selection of pieces from both contemporary and classic high-fashion designers in an upscale, department-store setting since 2009. Helmut Lang, Nili Lotan, Herve Leger, Shosh, Transit, and Rag & Bone are just some of the brands adorning the racks. Owners Daniele Churchill and Lori Land strive to provide “feel-good clothing” through a variety of apparel items that have been designed and manufactured around the world. Although the term “high-fashion” certainly applies, the prices are still within reach. And a knowledgeable staff is on hand to help you mix and match for the most stunning ensemble. Open until 6 pm on weekdays.

Now, one for the boys: Tom’s of Katonah. This specialized men’s shop is owned and managed by Tom Antonecchia, a lawyer who practices in his office next-door. Tom’s is one of my favorite places to purchase gifts for the important men in my life; in fact, Antonecchia once graciously offered to order a custom bowtie for me to gift to my younger brother for his high school graduation. The store sells high-quality, classic apparel and accessories. Plus, shopping here gives the added satisfaction of benefitting a local boutique business. The customer service is wonderful, and Antonecchia regularly seeks feedback from his customers on what to add to his in-house merchandise stock. My recommendation: the long-sleeved Southern Tide t-shirt, available in a variety of colors, is a great basic to carry through the seasons, worn with shorts in the summer or cords in the winter. Open until 7 pm on weekdays.

We also recommend:

  • Charles Department Store of Katonah for an expansive stock of apparel, shoes, kitchen wares, and sporting goods. The selection of barbecues and grilling accessories will delight even the most seasoned outdoor chefs.
  • Hickory & Tweed of Armonk for sports outfitting and equipment. You can get your bicycle tuned while you pick out a new fleece jacket!
  • LF of Scarsdale for the fashion trends of tomorrow. It features a semi-vintage interior to contrast with the contemporary pieces.
  • March of Briarcliff Manor delivers fashions from both established and emerging designers amid a SoHo vibe.
