Westchester routinely places highly in studies of both income and school performance. As finance resource GoBankingRates.com recently noted, the two are often correlated as higher incomes and home values lead to higher school taxes and consequently more funding. Nowhere is this more apparent than right here at home in Westchester County.

Of the ten richest school districts in the country, Westchester’s Scarsdale Union Free School District was far and away the wealthiest district in the country, having a median household income exceeding $250,000. For reference, the second place Weston School District in Weston, CT only averaged $218,152 per household. Third place, Piedmont City Unified School District in California clocked in at a paltry $202,083. No one else even broke the $200K mark.

That funding has done Scarsdale well, earning the SUFSD an over-all A+ ranking from Niche, as well as landing it at #1 on their list of Districts with the Best Teachers in New York, #2 on Best Places to Teach in New York, and #4 in Best School Districts in New York. Scarsdale also enjoys a comfortable 13:1 student-to-teacher ratio with a 97% graduation rate, and average SAT/ACT scores around 1370 and 31 respectively.
