Get a Good Laugh

This weekend, two comedy greats will supply grins and giggles to Westchester residents: David Sedaris on October 16 and Ron White on October 17.

This Friday at the Tarrytown Music Hall, the bestselling author and NPR humorist will be putting on An Evening with David Sedaris, at 8 pm. Sedaris’ wit is known to be razor sharp, so expect an act filled with sarcastic social critiques and more than a few laughs.

On Saturday, you can expect a more bawdy, scotch-soaked performance from Blue Collar Comedy veteran Ron White (above). Starting at 7 pm at The Capitol Theatre, sit back and enjoy the off-color act performed by an experienced funny-man with a cigar in his hand.

70s, Kids, and Rock & Roll

Whether for the kids or your own awoken nostalgia, this weekend is the perfect time to get those dancing shoes on.

On October 26, at 8 pm, Yesterday – The Beatles Tribute will be rocking out at the Paramount Theater in Peekskill. The tribute band has an impressive track record, from rocking out in Las Vegas Casinos to having performed on five continents.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse holds “Rock and Rolls For Kids” every Saturday at 11 am. This Saturday, October 17, is “70s for Kids,” where your young ones can enjoy music from Paul Simon to Queen, and are guaranteed to get down to some funk.

Scared By The Sound

Check out the 16th annual Scared By The Sound attraction, located at Playland Amusement Park. The show runs every weekend in October until October 31, from 7 to 11 pm, so be sure to experience it for yourself this weekend before it’s too late. From The Haunted Wine Cellar to Tunnels of Doom, there is no escape from this attraction without getting a good startle.

Pro tip: We have been warned that park goers will be transformed into zombies in real time. Attend at your own caution.

Carve Pumpkins at Stew Leonard’s

On Saturday, October 17, pumpkin carver Lenny Calvin will be at Stew Leonard’s in Yonkers to demonstrate to shoppers his elaborate Halloween-themed etchings on the store’s pumpkins.

The exhibit will go from 11 am to 4 pm in the Garden Shop, as customers can watch along and pick out their own pumpkins.
