Are Fashionable Shoes That Feel and Look Great in YOUR Future?

Most women who slip their feet into a pair of fashionable high-heeled shoes do so knowing that they’ll be eager to slip them off as soon as possible. Ask any woman and it’s likely that she’ll say it’s difficult to find stylish shoes that don’t hurt.

Dr. Bruce Pinker, who has a well-established foot and ankle surgery and podiatric medicine practice (Progressive Foot Care) that serves clients in Westchester and Rockland Counties, knows all too well the toll that wearing uncomfortable, poorly fitting shoes can have on feet, ankles and other parts of the body. Statistically, approximately 50 percent of all people will experience foot issues of one type or another during their lifetime.

“Heels higher than two-and-a-half inches are not recommended,” Dr. Pinker says. “When women force their feet into shoes with five or six inch heels, they may look great but their feet suffer. While we have made stilettos for some of our clients, we always recommend more sensible footwear. Shoes should be comfortable, and when they’re not, they lead to a lot of problems such as bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, heel spurs, ingrown toenails and plantar fasciitis.”

Since Dr. Pinker diagnoses and treats these foot problems every day in his thriving foot and ankle practice, he built upon his experience of seeing the damaging effects of footwear to establish Dr. D-LuCS (Doctor Designed Luxury Custom Shoes). “There’s a huge need for comfortable women’s shoes that look beautiful,” he says simply. “And shoes should be functional, fit well and be stylish. You have to be able to move well in your shoes and if you aren’t able to, your shoes – and your feet – aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do.”

“Your feet are your foundation, and I believe it’s essential that they are well-supported by shoes that are both stylish and comfortable. Many people who have had foot surgery find that the same deformities return several years later due to wearing poorly fitting shoes. These challenges led me to use my knowledge to create shoes for women that fit well without the look of a traditional orthopedic, ‘grandma’ shoe.”

State-of-the-Art Technology Delivers Comfort, Style and the Perfect Fit

Dr. D-LuCS creates bespoke, fashionable shoes that are remarkable for their comfort. His innovative process of creating customized shoes is based upon a complete diagnostic foot evaluation.

Dr. Pinker begins with a Computerized Scientific Gait Investigation (CSGI) to carefully study your standing, walking and running patterns, and to analyze the pressure points and changes in your feet and lower extremities. This foundation allows for accuracy and precision when designing your custom made shoes and prescribing the custom made orthotics that fit inside them. Both feet are traced and size is used as a guide to create your dream footwear that addresses your individual needs.

A complete foot and ankle Biomechanical Evaluation and range of motion testing is performed which offers valuable information about the major joints, muscle strength and any defects or chronic conditions such as arthritis, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, sprains or strains. Foot bone structure is analyzed using Fluroscopic Radiographic Evaluation of both feet to observe changes in cartilage, bone spurs and structural differences. A Diagnostic Ultrasound Evaluation is utilized to examine the soft tissue of each foot and ankle to further detect plantar fasciitis, arthritis, tendonitis and other inflammatory conditions. Dr. Pinker commonly incorporates these diagnostic studies in his practice at Progressive Foot Care.

“The Absolute Footwear Fusion of Fashion and Function”

Once the testing and evaluation process is completed, Dr. D-LuCS uses a finely tuned casting process to create a precise impression of each foot that incorporates all the data discovered during the CSGI process.

Then the fun begins! You’ll participate in the design of your individually created shoes, choosing the style, color and design to express your personal style and sense of beauty. You’ll relax in a therapeutic foot whirlpool followed by a moisturizing foot massage as you discuss your shoe design ideas with Dr. Pinker. Many women bring photos or pictures of shoes they love as the inspiration for a pair of custom shoes that will be created just for them.

Your bespoke shoes will be supportive, functional and luxurious – and, best of all, they’ll fit you to perfection. Our Perfect Customized Fit will allow you to dance all night without wincing in pain – and your friends will all be jealous!
