8 Bright and Beautiful Sound Shore Wedding Venues

Your guide to the scenic backdrops of the Long island Sound.

Surf Club on the Sound's elegant fountain is a prime photo op location.

Here in the Hudson Valley, we tend to talk up our namesake river on a regular basis. Still, when it comes to gorgeous views and en plein air wedding venues, we’re just as happy to pull up our Instagram and flip through dozens of saved shots from Westchester’s other scenic water vista, the Sound Shore.

Coveleigh Club

459 Stuyvesant Ave, Rye

Aside from the gorgeous sound views, flexibility is the name of the game at this Georgian clubhouse. The West Porch is perfect for intimate gatherings, comfortably seating between 25 and 75 guests, while the ballroom can entertain up to 220. Both are adjoined by a bucolic lawn that is absolutely ideal for outdoor ceremonies, first looks, party portraits, or even engagement shoots. Other choice locations include the welcome arch and nearby gatehouse.

Key Features:
Dedicated in-house catering and event staff, including house chef.

The club is located on Glen Island, which was originally built in 1879 as a summer resort for a businesses executive and became a successful casino during the 1930’s Big Band Era. Picturesque locations include historical arches and towers made of stone. Views continue inside the club’s circular chapel and ballrooms, surrounded by windows with views of the sea.

Hampshire Country Club

1025 Cove Rd, Mamaroneck

This venue overlooks a cove on the sound, and while the beach is rocky, the club’s lush golf course provides a median for pictures featuring views of both sprawling settings. The patio can serve as the location for ceremonies, and the liveliness of these outdoor views can continue inside when guests are greeted with floral arrangements on every table in the 35,000 square-foot clubhouse. Included in the price of the wedding, is the club’s wedding planner, who can help with flower vendors to DJs.

Surf Club on the Sound

280 Davenport Ave, New Rochelle

Grandeur is a point of pride for this seaside mansion, which is open to non-members for weddings. A reflecting pool, statuesque fountains, and an imperial staircase all provide scene-setting locations for pictures, in addition to the beach, since this venue also serves as a beach club. To add some personalization to the scene, a garde manger is on-hand for ice or fruit carving, as well as a pastry chef who can design a cake in the venue’s bakery, accompanied by homemade gelato.

Key Features:
Outdoor/indoor ceremonies, bridal attendant, maître d’, outdoor terrace.

VIP Country Club

600 Davenport Ave, New Rochelle

Pictures at a 120-year-old estate overlooking the water won’t be the only stand-out feature of your wedding at this venue. The country club, open to non-members for weddings, creates a restaurant-style dining experience. Stations during cocktail hours are customizable, so guests can choose what they want chefs to add in at each. South Asian, Indian, and Pakistani weddings are a specialty here, and chefs are prepared to make special ethnic cuisines, including halal meats, while adhering to dietary requests.

A fusion style menu is also available (along with the option of having the event entirely catered), which means the club’s chefs will work alongside a caterer to ensure there are options for everyone.

Key Features:
Outdoor/indoor ceremonies, Kosher catering available as well as private rooms for a smorgasbord and the groom’s tisch, outdoor terrace, valet parking, coat check services, lobby hosts, maître d’ and captain, two private suites with a bridal attendant.
