The Hallie Goldfarb And Marcello Luisi Wedding

A rustic, romantic, and relaxed mountain wedding.

Hallie Goldfarb and Marcello Luisi knew that they were right for each other in high school—but that doesn’t meant the proposal went smoothly.

“I actually ruined the original proposal,” Hallie says. “I’ve always told Marcello that I wanted the proposal to be in private because I didn't know how crazy my reaction would be. We were on our yearly winter trip to Montreal at our favorite French restaurant, and, after we finished dinner, he wanted to take photos in the beautiful, snow-covered courtyard. I started snapping photos of him, and he began walking towards me to propose—which I missed because I noticed that the entire restaurant was staring at us from inside and told him we needed to get out of there! I actually have a photo of his first proposal attempt.”

Luckily Marcello, who works in sales, made a second attempt. “He wound up popping the question later that night in our hotel room,” Hallie says, “which was a good move because I yelled, laughed, and cried all at the same time out of pure happiness.”

Though the proposal might have hit a snag, there was no question about where the wedding would take place: the Onteora Mountain House in Boiceville. “I fell in love with the unreal mountainside view, the vibe of the cottage, and openness of the pavilion where the reception was held,” Hallie, a public relations manager, says. “It had everything I was looking for in one place.”

The couple went for a muted color palette with pops of green and purple, as seen in the mismatched bridesmaid dresses.

Hallie, who's left-handed, hand-wrote the chalkboard signs herself; The ringbearer, a nephew, “took his responsibility very seriously, and it was adorable,” Hallie says.

The couple, who today live in Hoboken, New Jersey, wanted a “rustic, romantic, and relaxed” wedding. The reception featured chalkboard signage—a feat for Hallie, who is left-handed—flowers in a muted color palette with plums and greens, and a signature cocktail made from Kettle One vodka and muddled cucumber. Hallie chose her Augusta Jones dress because she waned to be able to dance in it.

“The day was special to me because we dedicated the wedding to those friends and family that we had lost over the past few years and skipped party favors to make donations to the American Diabetes Association and American Cancer Society,” Hallie adds. “They were all there in spirit on our big day!”
