African Art

Handmade in Cameroon, this tribal headdress is typically worn by prominent members of society, as well as the Juju dancers of the Bamileke tribe in West Africa; art collectors in the states hang them on their walls. The intricate design of the feathers is sewn onto a tight raffia base and covered with wood and cloth; each headdress takes four artisans several days to make. Sizes vary slightly, but are usually 33" in diameter and available in red, white, turquoise, purple, orange, pink, and yellow. $680 each from Nest Inspired Home (20 Purchase St, Rye, 914-921-6378; http://www.nestinspiredhome.com).
