The gorgeous view overlooking Mamaroneck’s famed Winged Foot Gold Club can’t hold a candle to the stunning scene inside this breathtaking kitchen, exquisitely designed by Mark Brody of Kitchen Solutions in the Bronx. Polished black granite gleams atop endless Painted Signature's Custom Cabinetry with beaded inset Colonial-style doors. A large center island cleverly uses large posts to add visual interest. Enkebol carved corbels serve as brackets under a wood range hood and add character to the peninsula, which does double duty as a counter for seating. Wide-planked distressed oak flooring warms up the black and white shades used throughout the space.
Brody worked with the homeowners, Steve and Sue Joyce, on their kitchen while they were constructing their new residence. “They wanted to be certain that their kitchen had everything they needed,” says Brody, Kitchen Solutions’ co-owner, listing some of the requirements as plenty of seating for guests, several work spaces, two sinks, wine storage, and, of course, a prime view of the green. “We finalized plans for the kitchen before they completed architectural plans for the rest of the house.”
These plans blend form and function. Roll-out shelves, drawer dividers, cutlery dividers, and various other accessories provide efficiency, while white cabinets in a cool, classic style present a timeless design. In the end, it’s kitchen with a leading edge.

Metal English hanging lights by Visual Comfort help accent the large center island, which houses a second prep sink and three bar stools for dining. The kitchen offers two other eating areas: the peninsula and the dining table. To the right of the doorway: a Thermador combination oven, microwave, and warming drawer. |

Mahogany counters on the island distinguish it from the granite-topped perimeter cabinets. Rohl Apron farm sinks with Rohl faucets—one in the island, the other along the wall—overlook the Tillinghast-designed Winged Foot Golf Course. |

Glass-fronted cabinets flanking the sink area and main window showcase the homeowners’ dishes and glassware. Wide-planked distressed oak flooring warms up the room. |

The 36-inch pro range by Viking is flanked by pull-out spice columns and topped with a custom-made wood hood with a Best motor for exhaust. A 48-inch Sub-Zero refrigerator is covered with panels that match the cabinetry for a coordinated look. |
