Country or Contemporary…

From the moment Jaqueline Touby (JTD Designs) brought her client into the Kitchens By Deane showroom, Mollie Rhodes, Designer, knew that this was not going to be an ordinary kitchen. The request was for a country-contemporary kitchen. After some deliberation to determine exactly what style that may be, a vision began to emerge.

The exterior architecture of this newly constructed home reminds one of a stone castle, sitting on top of a hill, with turrets. However, the interior, and particularly the kitchen, present another slant. There you find a classic white kitchen with some contemporary aspects. The wall cabinets have two glass inserts – white laminate glass on the under side, with a grid glass on the outside. There are touches of stainless from the dual SubZero refrigerators, throughout to the highlight being the stunning strap-and-rivet stainless backsplash behind the 60” Viking range (this all beneath an arched alcove).

Some of the “country” elements include beadboard backsplashes, turned legs on the island, a custom, and oversized farm sink (by Waterworks). The stunning wall of dark stained, rift oak cabinetry, with antique reproduction refrigerator hardware can be found in the octagonal breakfast room off the kitchen. It also houses a compartment for a Poland Springs water cooler, as well as Sub Zero refrigerator drawers. The curved stainless steel and glass shelves in the center of this cabinetry, serves as attractive storage for everyday dishes.

All-in-all, this bright and family-friendly kitchen is the spectacular centerpiece of the home.
