09/20/11Dine Out Irene Event to Benefit Farms Affected by Hurricane Irene; "Drink Yourself Blind" Wine Tasting Event at Pour in Mt. Kisco, NY; Chef Peter Kelly Honored at the Pierre; and Devils on Horseback at Growlers Beer Bistro in Tuckahoe, NYSo what are we talking about in the aftermath of Irene? If you’re like my friend, Aiko, you lost power for a week (but now you’re back on the grid). If you’re like me, you have boggy spots in the basement and no lasting damage. 09/12/11Top 10 Bad Diner Behaviors; Comb Vodka Dinner at Iron Horse Grill in Pleasantville, NY; Killer Cowboy Ribeye Deal at Restaurant X in Congers, NY; and Warm Rice Pudding at Tarry Tavern in Tarrytown, NYCheck out the sinister Eater.com, Grub Street, and even Zagat.com. Much of what you will read is diners and critics crabbing about restaurants. Headlines scream “Busted Trends,” “Five Things We Hate,” “Top Ten Restaurant No-Nos and S***shows.” What about the diners? 09/02/11EDP’s Cosmo Quiz (Which Is Really About Modern Restaurant Criticism); Don’t-Miss Wine Dinner at Tarry Lodge in Port Chester, NY; and Peak-Season Tomato/Basil Bruschetta at Serafina in White Plains, NYRecently, at a Stop & Shop, we caught a glimpse of that publishing chestnut, the Cosmopolitan Sex Quiz. These things never seem to get old with readers. If you’re like me, you started sneaking reads at age 9, wondering whether people really do those things with ice cubes, and now you stand in the grocery line ranting at anyone that’ll listen about its antiquated, pre-feminist idiocy.
