The motto is “Happiness is the Best Revenge,” and there’s no doubt that Revenge BBQ’s Texas-style brisket, sausages, and meats — arguably the best in the county — will put a smile on your face. “There is not much to it. We start with high quality meats, use a liberal amount of coarse ground pepper and kosher salt, and then (patiently) let the smoke do its thing,” explains co-owner Jacob Styburski, who was trained by Texas pitmasters.

At Smokehouse Tailgate Grill, the emphasis is on flavorful, fall-off-the-bone barbecue and good times. The signature dish at the Mamaroneck location is their smoked wings, which are brined for 24 hours in sweet tea, smoked over applewood, and then charred on the grill with agave butter. (Note: They’re never fried.) To top it off, choose between two sauces: Nashville Hot or the non-ketchup-based Alabama White BBQ.

This little piggy went to get some grub at Three Little Pigs, where in addition to meats-by-weight, you’ll find po’boys and some outrageous platters. The Hot Mess Dish sounds like it’s about to ruin your clean shirt, with five different smoked meats (brisket, pulled pork, pork belly, chorizo, and roast chicken) smothered with barbecue sauce and served over a crispy sweet potatoes, brisket baked beans, and baby arugula with pickled beets and crumbled goat cheese.

Go for the sandwiches, which contain carefully stacked ingredients to ensure the same combination of flavors in every bite. Staples coming out of the in-house custom smoker include brisket and pulled pork — both make finger lickin’ good sandwiches — paired with a gooey side of mac ’n’ cheese.
