Here's Where to Find Some of the Tastiest Pancakes in Westchester

For National Blueberry Pancake Day, Pondfield Café flips some dang good stacks.

On the border of Bronxville and Yonkers is a little breakfast-lunch café with a meager 32 seats (that’s including 9 or so counter stools). It's one of those no-pretense neighborhood spots where a meal is simple, but simple in a good way — inexpensive, tasty, familiar, comforting, and quick affable service.

It’s rare you’ll find a person whose eyes don’t sparkle up a bit at the mention of pancakes. One of the oldest forms of bread, I like to think they’re in our ancestral DNA. The pancakes at Pondfield are the stars of the menu, a trio of light, golden brown crowd-pleasing spheres cooked on a griddle on high heat. If there ever was a catalyst to seek out some righteous pancakes (though if you really need one you may want to check your taste-buds for signs of life), National Blueberry Pancake Day is January 28.

Now if pancakes aren’t your thing, there are big, fluffy omelets, addictive sliced fried potatoes with always the right amount of crisp, overstuffed breakfast burritos, and flavorsome homemade soups.

And remember cash-only for the bill, coins for the metered parking, and patience for what may be a 15-minute wait for a seat, especially on the weekends.
