Though we’re not fully convinced that Hastings-on-Hudson qualifies at a mini-Brooklyn in Westchester, a group of exciting, new food-and-dining concepts coming to the Rivertown later this year are certainly pushing the dining scene in that direction. '
From a women’s-empowerment-focused coffee bar to the county’s first live-fire restaurant, Hastings’ already solid dining scene is about to become even more exciting — and delicious.
547 Warburton Ave
Jennifer Aaronson and Paul Molakides’ stylish wine bar, Boro6, was one of our favorite new openings in recent years for its selection of wines by the glass, cheese-and-charcuterie boards, and linger-all-day vibes.
This fall, the pair will expand with the opening of B6 Kitchen next door, which will bring hot items to the menu at Boro6; offer ready-to-eat meals (call-ahead train-station pickup is planned at some point); and retail some of the pair’s favorite items, from French aprons, vintage ironstone platters, and fresh-cut flowers, to Sullivan Street Bakery breads, meats and cheeses, and beans from Gotham Coffee Roasters.
Look for an assortment of house-made baked goods and pantry items, including granola, jams, and dressings, to be available for retail, as well.

Funded by a $15,000 Kickstarter campaign in 2018, Joanna Prisco’s popular pop-up has finally secured a brick-and-mortar location at the Hastings Metro-North station. Slated to open sometime this year, the family- and stroller-friendly coffee bar and café will serve breakfast and lunch, including Parlor Coffee, cinnamon-scented mochi, pandan waffles, and spicy egg sandwiches.
“Owned, operated by, and dedicated to empowering women,” The Good Witch will also host community programming, workshops, and panels, and will feature a larder of women-made products, including breads from NYC’s Hot Bread Kitchen.
555 Warburton Ave
The 103-year-old Farragut Inn building on Warburton Avenue will reopen this fall as Palo Vivo, the county’s first live-fire, barbacoa-concept restaurant. The tri-level space will include event space on the ground level, the dining room and bar on the main floor, and a seasonal rooftop bar with views of the NYC skyline and Hudson River.
Also planned is a serious cocktail program based on Latin American spirits, including tequila, mezcal, rum, and pisco.
After two season at the Hastings Famers’ Market, Wild Culture Waffles will open a brick-and-mortar location in the Hastings Moviehouse Mews building in mid-September. Crispy, live-culture, sourdough waffles in variations like ham-and-cheese, everything spice, lemon meringue, and custard-filled dark chocolate, use local ingredients and sustainable practices, including all compostable or recyclable containers and utensils.
Also expect salads, coffee and tea drinks, and a deeper dive into fermentation with retail kombucha and lacto-fermented vegetables planned for the future.
If you haven't tried the stuffed sourdough handheld waffles from @wildcultureny, you haven't lived yet. Their signature airy fluffiness offers perfect real estate for injections of hazelnut, chocolate, jam, cheese, and curd.
