These S’mores-Themed Treats Are the Perfect Way to Celebrate National S'mores Day

Because, really, what’s better than chocolate with marshmallows?

National S’mores Day is August 10 and what better way to celebrate than to check out some local riffs on this favorite chocolate-marshmallow snack?

S’mores Nutella Pizza, Need We Say More?

At Mount Kisco’s Exit 4 Food Hall, swap tomato sauce for Nutella and cheese for fluffy marshmallow, and you’ll get the food hall’s popular dessert pizza. This Instagram-worthy dessert is baked in a wood-fired oven and topped with powdered sugar. Perfect for sharing, but you might not want to.

Try a Grown Up Take on the Campfire Classic

This ain’t your childhood s’mores. At UnWined, Somers’ newest wine bar, you’ll find a mature twist on the treat: a graham-cracker tart with chocolate ganache and house-made marshmallow brûlée. Owner Stephanie Small says it’s their most popular dessert and is in keeping with “our idea of having classic foods on our menu but adding a signature twist.”

Make It a Double (Scoop), Please

Known for its small batch, premium ice cream, Longford’s in Rye serves up this chocolate ice cream studded with graham crackers, marshmallows, and (more chocolate!) chocolate chips.

Roast Your Own

Sometimes the hands-on experience of turning marshmallows over the fire until they’re perfectly golden brown, is the best part. Stop short of starting a fire pit in your backyard and head over to the White Plains’ Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ for the real deal. Diners cook their own meats and seafood at this Asian barbecue joint — but the s’mores is a crowd favorite.

Campfire Crepe

This French twist on an American favorite from Little Crepe Street in Mount Kisco will not disappoint any classic s’mores lover. The warm thin crepe is a perfect base for the comforting mix of homemade marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate sauce, topped with a gentle sprinkle of powdered sugar. Crepes come in original, buckwheat, gluten-free rice or lentil.

Marshmallow Monster

Baked by Susan’s can’t-miss Marshmallow Monster cake (or cupcake) is available on request only, but oh-so worth it. Chocolate cake with marshmallow buttercream and a smooth, chocolaty ganache will have you practically begging for s'more.

S'mores Fudge Bar

With a thick, generous layer of chocolate fudge and an even more exciting layer of marshmallow, torched for the perfect golden brown waves, make this bar one to not miss. The Snackery in Larchmont has reimagined the classic s’mores — as is their nature of doing things — into a three-layered grab-and-go bar; it’s all the fun and flavor without any of the hassle.
