If Saturdays Are for the Boys, Fridays Are for the Foodies

Starting August 4, Cross County Shopping Center will host Foodie Fridays as part of its annual SummerFest.



Summer is nearly halfway over, yet there is still fun to be had! Specifically, the Cross County Shopping Center will be hosting Foodie Fridays as part of its annual SummerFest. In addition to outdoor concerts and fireworks, Foodie Fridays will feature 12 local food trucks over the course of three Fridays in August (4, 11, and 24). For a sneak peek of the fare that will be offered by each truck, click onward and prepare for your stomach to growl.

 

Road Grub Mobile

What It Is: Have a few napkins handy when you chow down on the offerings from this comfort food-making machine.

What To Get: Mouthwatering cheesesteaks, juicy burgers, and stick-to-your-ribs pulled pork sliders will send you straight to carnivore heaven.

 

Empanada Mania

What It Is: Since 2011, this truck has been serving up crunchy, savory empanadas that are sure to leave you satisfied.

What To Get: Choose from a variety of six empanadas, including the bestselling angus beef, buffalo chicken, and chicken quesadilla.

 

Walter’s Hot Dogs

What It Is: There isn’t a Westchesterite who hasn’t heard of Walter’s. The beloved hot dog stand has been churning out their world-famous dogs for nearly 100 years.

What To Get: You can’t go wrong with a classic single, split down the middle and slathered with the joint’s homemade mustard. Curly fries and a shake complete the marvelous meal.

 

Abeetz Mobile Wood-Fired Pizza

What It Is: New York-style thin crust pizza abounds from the gold-tiled Italian imported brick oven on board this slice-serving truck.

What To Get: Take your pick from 12 perfect pies, from the Mutzie (fresh mozzarella, sauce, basil) and the Mangiacake (ricotta, mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto, pecorino) to the hipster-inspired avocado toast (avocado, sliced tomato, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, salt, pepper, olive oil).

 

 

Jimmy’s Soft Serve

What It Is: This family-owned soft serve ice cream truck has been churning out sundaes, cones, shakes, and shaved ice for nearly a decade.

What To Get: Revisit your childhood with the classics served from this truck, including vanilla, chocolate, and twist cups and cones. Mix-ins and toppings cover every craving, from M&Ms and Nerds, to gummy bears and strawberry sauce.

 

Anthony’s New York Hot Dogs & More

What It Is: For more than 10 years, Anthony’s New York Hot Dogs & More has been providing a multitude of classic dogs, sausages, burgers, and heroes in and around Westchester.

What To Get: Go for a traditional hot dog, with a choice of onions, sauerkraut, chili, cheese, or everything, or spring for a hot dog hero loaded with three flavor-packed dogs.

 

The Souvlaki Truck

What It Is: Get your Greek on with the Mediterranean fare from The Souvlaki Truck. Well-seasoned chicken, pork, and lamb are prepped on the truck daily to ensure freshness.

What To Get: Whether they’re on a stick, a plate, or stuffed inside a fresh pita, the chicken and pork souvlaki (don’t forget the side of thick hand-cut fries covered in feta) are to die for.

What It Is: The brainchild of Madison Kitchen’s chef-owner Nick Di Bona, this truck is serving smooth and silky ice cream that will have you screaming for days.

What To Get: Bestselling flavors include rainbow cookie, salted caramel, mint chip, and Nutella s’mores. Need we say more?

 

Kona Ice

What It Is: After one look at this truly vibrant truck, you will want to get in on the multitudes of self-serve shaved ice they’re offering.

What To Get: Choose from 10 mouthwateringly refreshing flavors that will make your taste buds sing, like Wild Watermelon, Lemon Lime-A-Licious, and Strawberry’d Treasure.

 

LobsterCraft

What It Is: Tie on your bibs, and prepare to dig in to the succulent fare from LobsterCraft, churning out delectable lobster rolls since 2012.

What To Get: There’s the Coastal, which contains meat from one whole lobster, stuffed in a split-top roll and topped with melted butter. Or, wrap your jaws around the LBLT (lobster-bacon-lettuce-tomato), topped with garlic aioli.
