New Store Spotlight: OOCK

Awhile back I got word of a new boutique opening in Bedford dedicated solely to sustainable products. (Solely – as in, I don’t have to shift through racks or decipher a million different labels to see what is actually environmentally friendly.) As I’ve mentioned before on this blog, I try to be as environmentally conscious as I can in my day to day life, so you can imagine that I was excited to take a look at what the shop had to offer.

Opened last week, OOCK is housed in the same office as the architect and design firm of Carol Kurth (get it? - the name stands for Office Of Carol Kurth). Taking up about half of the front of the studio, you’ll find a wide variety of items in the relatively small space. They’ve got accessories like soaps, linen sprays and candles, and—what I found to be even more interesting—swatches of rugs, wall coverings and paint samples that you can order directly through the shop. They also have a selection of cleaning products, colorful soy panels and even artwork created by local artist Loren Eiferman. (Her art was recently displayed at the Katonah Museum of Art and is now for sale in the shop.)

For someone who wants to either start off small with pillows or go straight for the organic bedding and cork flooring, you can get it all under one roof. And if you’re ready to take the big plunge and have entire rooms in your house designed sustainably, well, the design firm is right there to take on the project.
